Corve Cottage is a charming, centrally located 16th century house which has been recently refurbished and is within 8 minutes walk of the historic centre of Ludlow.

 

The renowned independent shops of Ludlow start within 2 minutes of the cottage, along with a Tesco supermarket.

 

One of the best restaurants in Ludlow called Mortimers is just a 5 minute walk away and there is a very good, cosy pub in Corve Street, serving restaurant quality food with a lovely beer garden by the river.

 

The railway station is about 8 minutes walking distance.

One free virtual (Digital) parking permit is included in your stay. Please provide your vehicle registration at least one week prior to arrival. For more than one vehicle we recommend the Lower Galdeford car park, 5 mins walk from the cottage located next to the library https://shropshire.gov.uk/parking/find-my-nearest-car-park/ludlow-galdeford-zone-b-lower/

There are two spacious double bedrooms (one with king-size bed and the other with twin beds) and a decent sized
single bedroom.

original inglenook fireplace.

The new Kitchen is well equipped with all amenities and includes a dishwasher and washing machine.

Corve Cottage benefits from a fast WiFi connection which is free to use by guests.

Attached to the house is a sunny garden, ideal for alfresco eating and a place to sit and enjoy a
peaceful afternoon..

Parking

One free digital parking permit is included in your stay. Please provide your car registration. For additional parking for more than one vehicle we recommend the following:

Bathroom

The bathroom is on the first floor and includes a WC, basin and a good sized shower, there is also a
separate  WC.

The Owners

Malcolm and Debbie live locally and moved from Berkshire so they could enjoy Ludlow's historic, yet vibrant character, its markets, cafes and splendid architecture.

LUDLOW - ATTRACTIONS

Ludlow - Historic Town

 

Ludow has markets most days in the market square, which is next to wonderful Ludlow Castle and close to its superb 15th century church.

 

Ludlow is famous for its architecture, which reflects the changing styles of the last 400 years.

 

There are a variety of good places to eat and Ludlow is well known for its food and local produce.

 

Surrounding Area

 

The surrounding countryside is noted for its variety of landscapes.

Many interesting and historic sites are can be reached within an hour or less of Ludlow.To the south, the black and white villages of Herefordshire including the Market city of Hereford with its cathedral containing the famous Mappa Mundi.To the north you will find the Shropshire Hills, Craven arms and of course Shrewsbury.

Ludlow Castle

 

The impressive ruins of the castle occupy the oldest part of Ludlow. Building of the castle started around 1086, with many later additions in the following two centuries. It is one of the most interesting castles in the Marches, in a dominant and imposing position high above the river Teme. It features examples of architecture from the Norman, Medieval and Tudor periods.

St Laurence's Church

 

Saint Laurence’s Church was established as a place of worship when the Normans founded Ludlow in the late 11th century. It is situated in the centre of Ludlow on the hill around which the medieval town developed.

The church is the largest parish church in Shropshire and is described as the "cathedral of the Marches". The tower is 135 feet (41 metres) high and commands excellent views of the town and surrounding countryside.

Ludlow Museum

 

Ihe museum contains an interactive environment rich in history, while encapsulating the architecture and social history through its town centre location. The building is prominently located within the historic walled town of Ludlow, forming a key focal point at the head of Broad Street. The Buttercross occupies the main approach to the town centre from the south, forming a pivotal point on the dramatic spatial progression that leads from Ludford Bridge via Broadgate to the Ludlow Castle gates. It reveals the town’s proud architectural heritage to visitors and signposts them to other heritage venues in Ludlow to help visitors get the most from their stay.

Walks and Cycling

 

Ludlow is surrounded by ideal countryside for walking. Walks from the town lead out to forests and farmland; the Shropshire Hills are a short bus or car ride away. Ludlow is at the start of the Mortimer Trail, a long-distance path to Kington on the Herefordshire/Wales border.

Ludlow and the surrounding south Shropshire countryside is an ideal cycling area. The beautiful hilly countryside which includes the Shropshire Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty has many quiet country lanes, forest areas and planned routes to suit cyclists of all abilities.
